Steve B has Motor Neurone Disease and is severely disabled, requiring almost constant care. This limited his ability to do things as simple as get around the home.
Steve now lives downstairs in the family home which has been adapted to enable wheelchair access to the ground floor as well as an extension providing a ground floor shower room adjacent to Steve’s sleeping space in the lounge.
Mrs B – “We’re really happy with the ways it’s been designed as it doesn’t look ‘disabled’”
“It’s made a huge difference because Steve can come downstairs. We did have a stairlift but Steve was struggling to use it. Having the spacious shower room has made a huge difference for the carers, us and Steve… he feels much more part of the family”.
“Having Ian (Ashby Building Consultants) in charge of it made it all less stressful, he dealt with everything, he pretty much thought of everything and he was very understanding”.
